Dive Sites Map of Bali's North-West Coast
To be able to visit this beautiful area for Scuba diving from the south part of Bali during your diving holidays, we need to make a busride of approximately 4 hours. We will travel straight through Bali on the way to the north-west tip of the island and will take another road on the way back. You will be able to get a good impression of a great part of Bali during this trip. The best way to dive this location is by joining on one of our diving safaris which will take you from one diving location to the other, you will spend the night during this tour in different places around Bali, close to the sites of your choice which will maximize your time in the water and minimize driving around. Our guides and drivers will stay nearby all the time to be able to help you with anything of your needing. Bali Barat National ParkThe dive sites that are found in the north-west part of Bali, are part of the "Bali Barat National Park" which covers an area of 19.000 hectares with an additional 50.000 hectares protected in the national parks extension. Approximately 7.000 hectares of coral reef and coastal water is protected herein aswell. The coastal area forms a sort of savanna because the low amount of annual rainfall. Places close to the shore have extensive growth of mangroves which result in a habitat for many types of crustacean like shrimps and crabs. Fauna of the park is not limited to marine life alone. The forest is home to different kind of monkeys like black monkeys, leaf monkeys and macaques. Many of Bali's 300 species of birds can be found here, including the very rare white Bali Starling. Menjangan IslandMenjangan island (deer island) is one of Bali's famous locations for Scuba diving and features some beautiful dive sites. This island can be found some 10km offshore of Bali's north-west coast and has some great coral reef walls. Menjangan is one of Bali's best protected locations for Scuba diving and basically sits inside a bay which causes the generally good visibility and almost current free conditions. Planning for diving around Menjangan island is normally made with taking wind direction in consideration. Best conditions to conduct your dives are met by diving the leeward side of the island. Menjangan is reached by using local boats which leave from Labuan Lalang situated in the mangrove forests at the coast (see map). These local boats will bring you in 30 minutes to the best divesite according the conditions and your preferences. After surfacing from the first dive, our crew will arrange your lunch which you can enjoy on Menjangan island itself. For the second dive, we will get to another location around the island by boat or start right where you surfaced after the first dive, to continue your exploration of the great coral walls following the usually very mild current of this area. There is a good possibility that you get enchanted of the Scuba diving around this island and feel sorry to leave to the main land of Bali again after the diving.
