PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
When you want to increase your knowledge about Scuba and practical diving skills, want to work up to become a dive instructor in a later stage, the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course (AOWD) has to be the next step in your dive education. This certification can be achieved during your holidays / vacation here in Bali Indonesia and will take 2 days.
Improved Scuba knowledge and diving skills will make you a better diver and increase the enjoyment and safety during Scuba diving, you will understand more about the underwater environment and moving around as well as your buoyancy will become more natural. Interaction with marine life gets better and you will be able to come closer to many marine species.
To obtain the PADI Advanced Open Water Certification you have to complete five Adventure dives which have to include a Deep Adventure Dive and Navigation Adventure Dive. The three other Adventure Dives to complete during your stay in Bali can be a choice of the following:
- Boat Diver
- Drift Diver
Wreck Diver
- Multilevel Diver
- Night Diver
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Search and Recovery Diver
- Underwater Videographer
- Underwater Photographer
- Underwater Naturalist
- AWARE Fish Identification
PADI's Adventures in Diving program offers both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. If you complete only three adventure dives, you can earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification.
Adventure Dives are basically the first dives of corresponding Specialty Courses and can be credited towards certification for these specialties.
Course Overview
Because the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Scuba Course is basically an in-the-water course there is no theoretical examination. It's all about building and improving your Scuba experience during diving.
To obtain the knowledge about Deep Diving and Navigation Diving and the 3 additional adventure dives of your choice, you however have to work through the corresponding chapters of the Adventures In Diving book and finish and evaluate the knowledge reviews with your instructor.
During the first day of this course, you will conduct the required necessary dives for the Advanced Open Water Certification:
- The Deep Dive will bring you down to a depth of 30 metres (100 ft) and you will have to do some tasks outlined by your instructor to get familiar with the influence of nitrogen on your nervous system at that particular depth.
- During the following Navigation Dive you will get familiar with the use of a compass and measuring swimming distances. Your instuctor will give some tasks to accomplish under his direct supervision.
The Second day of the course will be spend on the 'elective' adventure dives of your choice to built some extra Scuba skills.
Course Pre-requisites
- Be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization);
- Be 15 years or older to begin this certification course (12 years for Junior Advanced Open Water);
- Evaluate and sign the PADI Diver statement (for Junior by parents/guardian).
This Scuba Diving Course Includes
- Lunch and Drinking water;
- All equipment hire;
- Air fills (free Nitrox available for EANx certified divers);
- Transfers before, during and after the diving/classroom from and to you accommodation;
- Free Copy of BIDP's "Bali Ocean" Scuba Diving DVD (with underwater video of Bali's dive sites)
Duration Of The Course
- Recommended: 15 hours;
- 5 dives during 2 days.
A Certified PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Is Qualified To
- Diving with a buddy, independent of professional supervision;
- Obtain air fills and Scuba equipment and other services;
- Conduct No-Decompression diving with a buddy to a maximum depth of 30 meters (100 ft) in environment and conditions as learned during the Open Water Diver Course.
After PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification
When you are a certified Advanced Open Water Diver the 'road' is open to get up to Master Scuba Diver level or continue untill you accomplish to become a PADI Instructor yourself.
