PADI Divemaster Course

The PADI Divemaster Course is a professional qualification offered in the PADI program. During this PADI course you will work together closely with one of our PADI instructors and learn diving leadership through classroom, independent study and practical training and stamina exercises. PADI Divemaster training establishes your leadership abilities and will qualify you to supervise Scuba diving activities and assist instructors with student divers.

An understanding of the physics, physiology, equipment and environment is an integral part of this training, as is a thorough working knowledge of the Recreational Dive Planner. This course is best conducted through an internship program when you spending your diving holidays / vacation here in Bali with BIDP.

The PADI Divemaster Certification Course is highly respected and recognised around the world and is the neccesary step towards PADI Instructorship. A certified PADI Divemaster is supposed to be Professional and exhibit role model behavior aswell as having the ability to assist and supervise during Scuba training and diving activities.

Course Overview

The PADI Divemaster Course is built up from three modules which covers Knowledge Development, Practical Skills and Stamina, and Practical Application.

Padi Divemaster ManualKnowledge Development

The Knowledge Development contains twelve topics which you will cover through independent study, projects and discussions. Your independent academic work during this course will includes reading the PADI Divemaster Manual, watching the PADI Divemaster video, studying The Encyclopedia of Recreational Scuba Diving, The Diving Knowledge Workbook and the Business of Diving Book aswell as watching PADI Specialty video's and other materials.

Practical Skills and Stamina

The Water Skills and Stamina part has two duties, developing and evaluating your overall water skills and stamina and improve your existing Scuba Diving Skills.

You will have to complete several timed swimming sessions and other exercises in a confined water environment. You will also refine your basic Scuba skills so you can be a role model for starting divers who are learning those skills.

Practical Application Module

During The Practical Application module, you will learn and practice divemaster skills by applying what you have learnedduring the Knowledge Development, Water Skills and Stamina modules. You will begin by completing four Required Training Exercises:

  1. A mapping project;
  2. An underwater problem solving exercise;
  3. Implementing a divemaster-conducted program;
  4. Managing a dive accident scenario.

ExaminationCertification

After your studies have been completed, you will take the PADI Divemaster Exam, which consists of written tests about the topics of your studies. You need 75% or better on each test for certification. (when you earn less for an exam, you will have to take a makeup after you have had enough time to restudy the material)

Course Pre-requisites

  • PADI Advanced Open Water And PADI Rescue Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another training organization);
  • Evaluate and sign the PADI Diver statement;
  • Minimum 60 logged dives;
  • Be 18 years of age or older to begin the program.

  • Lunch and Drinking water;
  • All equipment hire;
  • Air fills (free Nitrox available for EANx certified divers);
  • Entrance fees to swimming pool and dive sites;
  • Transfers before, during and after the diving/classroom from and to you accommodation;
  • Free Copy of BIDP's "Bali Ocean" Scuba Diving DVD (with underwater video of Bali's dive sites)

Duration Of The Course

  • 2 weeks for the practical training exercises

A Certified PADI Divemaster Is Qualified To

  • Work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations;
  • Assist PADI Instructors with Scuba diving students;
  • Lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive trips;
  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers;
  • Teach PADI Discover Snorkeling programs;
  • Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers;
  • Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences.

After PADI Divemaster Certification

As a certified PADI Divemaster you will be a PADI member and be able to work as a Scuba Diving Leader all around the world in the diving industry. You will get support and services from the ten international PADI offices around the globe.

The PADI Divemaster certification is needed on the way to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).
