PADI Open Water Diver Course

Scuba DiverThe PADI Open Water Diver Course (OWD) will take 4 days to make you a certified Scuba diver who can go out for Scuba diving with a buddy independent of a professional instructor or divemaster. When certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, you will be free to plan and organise your own Scuba diving and will be allowed to pick up air fills and Scuba equipment to enjoy the beautiful underwater life and marine creatures at home or all around the world during Scuba diving holidays and vacation.

When you already completed a PADI Discover Scuba Diving Course or are a certified PADI Scuba Diver, you will get credit towards this PADI Open Water Diver Course, the most conducted and world wide accepted Scuba Diving course in the world.

Course Overview

This Scuba Diving Course will teach you the knowledge and skills to safely Scuba dive independent of supervision of a instructor or divemaster in your home country or holidays / vacation around the world.

You will learn the fundaments of the safe practice of Scuba Diving, including dive equipment set-up and configuration. Techniques to prevent and handle problems underwater and become a self-sufficient Scuba diver.

You will learn planning, preparing and conducting No Decompression dives to a maximum depth of 18 metres (60 ft).

Contained in this course are the following:

  1. Fundamental Planning, organisation, procedures, techniques of Scuba Diving;
  2. Knowledge development classroom sessions with knowledge review tests (4 x 10 questions);
  3. 5 dives in swimming pool to develop necessary practical underwater skills like regulator clearing, mask clearing and buoyancy;
  4. 4 dives in open water around Bali to a maximum depth of 18 metres (50 ft);
  5. Final theoretical examination (50 multiple choice questions about dive knowledge and planning);
  6. Dive certification when all required knowledge and skills are obtained by the student.

Course Pre-requisites

  • Have basic swimming skills and feel comfortable in the water. Be in resonable fit condition/health;
  • Be 14 years of age or older to begin the program (when you are younger then 14 years of age, participation is possible in the Junior Open Water Diver Course, which will allow to dive to a depth of 12 meters (40 ft) under supervision of parent / guardian or dive professional);
  • Evaluate and sign the PADI Diver statement.

This Scuba Diving Course Includes

  • Lunch and Drinking water;
  • All equipment hire;
  • Air fills;
  • Entrance fees to swimming pool and dive sites;
  • Transfers before, during and after the diving/classroom from and to you accommodation;
  • Free Copy of BIDP's "Bali Ocean" Scuba Diving DVD (with underwater video of Bali's dive sites)

Duration Of The Course

  • Duration of the PADI Open Water Diver Course is 4 days (2 days for the Referral Open Water Diver Course);
  • 5 confined water (pool) sessions and 4 open water dives.

A Certified PADI Open Water Diver Is Qualified To

  • Diving with a buddy, independent of professional supervision;
  • Obtain air fills and Scuba equipment and other services;
  • Conduct No-Decompression diving with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 ft) in environment and conditions as learned during the Open Water Diver Course.

After PADI Open Water Diver Certification

After your PADI Open Water Diver dive certification, the world is open for you. Being able to keep on Scuba diving as a certified Open Water Diver and continue with PADI's Adventures In Diving program during your holidays / vacation here in Bali, or at any time at any place around the globe.

You can improve your skills as a diver with all the various specialty training courses available in the PADI program or go for your Advanced Open Water Dive certification.
