PADI Rescue Diver Course
Now you probably have gained the knowledge and skills to plan and execute your own dives in a safe way, but what will you do when another diver ends up with a problem or needs medical help in the water here in Bali during your holidays, can you cope with these scenarios?
The PADI Rescue Diver Course teaches you the knowledge and skills on how to assist other divers with trouble in the water, how to manage Scuba diving accident situations and performing diving first aid. The PADI Rescue Diver Course is also the necessary step to be able to become a PADI Divemaster and is mandatory on the path to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
During a combination of classroom, confined and open water sessions, you will learn the knowledge and practical skills to deal with any diving emergency above and under water. This course widens your view and make you a more safe and valuable diving companion. The course is designed to be demanding, though realistic in it's conduct, content and approach. Although the nature and context in which rescue training may be used is serious, the course should be enjoyable and result in building diver confidence.
Course Overview
This course is built up upon two main components, knowledge development and open water training exercises. The PADI Rescue Diver Course is a performance based Scuba diving course.
Learn and Master Fundamental Accident Prevention, Rescue Emergency Management Skills.
During the PADI Rescue Diver Course you will work through 5 sessions of the PADI Rescue Diver Manual and Rescue Diver Video and conduct 12 correlating and required open water exercises.
An example how these sessions could look when you enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver Course here in Bali, Indonesia with Bali International Diving Professionals (BIDP) is as follows:
Session 1
Introduction and course overview; Self Rescue, Diver Stress and Diver Stress Management.
Exercises; Tires Diver, Panicked Diver, Response from Shore and Boat to a Conscious Diver, Distressed Diver Underwater (overexertion and ascents on alternate air source)
Session 2
Fist Aid Equipment and First Aid Procedures.
Exercises; Missing Diver Procedures and Surfacing an Unconscious Diver.
Session 3
Emergency Management.
Exercise; Unconscious Diver at the Water Surface.
Session 4
Common Equipment Problems, Equipment Function, Release Function and Problems.
Exercises; Exiting water with an Unconscious Diver, First Aid Procedures for Pressure Related Accidents.
Session 5
Knowledge Review and Rescue Diver Exam.
Exercises; Diving Accident Scenarios
Other arrangements are however possible and may be required depending on participants performance and logistical considerations.
Course Pre-requisites
- Minimum age: 15 years old (12 years to start PADI Junior Rescue Diver);
- Be a certified PADI Advance Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization);
- Successful completion the Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses accomplished not longer then 24 months before starting this Rescue Diver Course;
- Evaluate and sign the PADI Diver statement.
This PADI Course Includes
- Lunch and Drinking water;
- All equipment hire;
- Air fills (free Nitrox available for EANx certified divers);
- Entrance fees to swimming pool and dive sites;
- Transfers before, during and after the diving/classroom from and to you accommodation;
- Free Copy of BIDP's "Bali Ocean" Scuba Diving DVD (with underwater video of Bali's dive sites)
Duration Of The Course
- 5 Training sessions including theoretical knowledge and open water skill development;
- A maximum of 3 days.
After PADI Rescue Diver Certification
When you received your Rescue Diver Certification, you will be a more advanced Scuba diver with increased skill to take care of unforseen situations under water as well as at the surface.
Getting certified as an PADI Rescue Diver is a pre-requisite step on the way to become a PADI Scuba diving professional and to enroll into the PADI Divemaster Course.
