 PADI AWARE:
Coral Reef Conservation
About PADI Project AWARE
PADI's Project AWARE was emerging in 1989 to help conserving marine environments for the future generations. A-W-A-R-E is an abbreviation of "Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education".
The Project AWARE Foundation is a non profit organisation which is dedicated to increase the Awareness that the underwater environment has to be protected. The project focusses on education, advocacy and action.
Scuba divers have a unique view and general concern about the situation of the underwater world and are the right people to monitor the conditions of reefs and coral health around our planet.
Shortly after the founding of Project AWARE, PADI began to create specialty courses. Project AWARE provides educational info for recreational divers and dive professionals. Together with other environmental organisations, a worldwide underwater cleanup was organised.
Now you can be a part of this organisation by starting to 'GET AWARE' in Bali, Indonesia!!
BIDP and Project AWARE Coral Reef Conservation
BIDP's opinion is that it is of the greatest importance to be a diver who is responsive and protective to the underwater environment and marine life. Because coral reefs are the basis of the rich marine life here in Bali and around Indonesia (and elsewhere in the world), we feel that we have to do whatever in our power to conserve it for the generations to come.
BIDP is an active scuba diving organisation and were primarely involved with the construction of moorings around our and surrounding islands. Dropping of anckors is since that time largely minimized. BIDP's divemasters and instructors also participate in clean up dives. We encourage everybody with Scuba Skills to join us!
