PADI Deep Diver Specialty CourseWhen you know the feeling of being at 18 metres (60 feet) depth and see something really interesting at 30 meters or just want to expand your Scuba diving knowledge, the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Scuba diving course is probably the thing for you. Regularly during the Mola-Mola season here in Bali Indonesia there will be a dive at Nusa Penida's Crystal Bay dive site where the Oceanic Sunfish come up from the deep, it is great to meet them before many other divers do and scare the Mola away with camera's, wild finning and trying to get close-up. As you probably know, you need a reason to go deeper then the regular depth of the 18 metres (60 feet) recreational diving depth. You use considerably more air at depth, which results in more nitrogen pickup, the chance of nitrogen narcosis is getting bigger and the no-stop limits are shortened. The water surface is further away and it takes longer to ascend, which increases the risks of diving at depths compared to a maximum dive depth of 18 metres (60 feet) as allowed after your Open Water Certification. Because the hazards of diving at depth get bigger and the space for errors during deep dives get smaller, this is not a specialty course for a person that get easily stressed. As accident evaluation shows that there need to be at least 3 factors available for an accident to occur, we need to make the part of human error as small as possible by developing sufficient skills to minimize the chance of stress and panic. Deep diving in PADI's recreational diving program is defined as diving at a depth of more then 18 metres (60 feet) and no dives exceeding 40 metres (130 feet) of depth. Minimum depth of the conducted dives between 18 metres (60 feet) and 30 metres (100 feet). The deep dives need to stay within no-decompression limits and the deepest dives will be conducted first. This specialty dive course is designed to be an introduction to deep diving and will help the student to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques to safely participate in deep diving activities. Course OverviewDuring the PADI Deep Diver Specialty Scuba Diving Course, you will built the knowledge, skills and techniques for deeper diving then 18 metres (60 feet) with a maximum depth of 40 metres (130 feet). These deep dives have to stay within no-decompression limits. The Deep Diver course consists of equally divided knowledge development and actual open water training dives. To be able to get certified for this course, 4 deep dives have to be conducted over 2 dive days minimum.
