PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty Course

When you like to know how your equipment works and want to be able to solve problems with Scuba equipment and diving gear, do some maintenance yourself, this is probably the course for you!

PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty Course is the excellent course to built your knowledge on how modern Scuba diving equipment works and how to take care of it. You learn how to adjust and refine dive gear to adjust to personal needs. Lessons will be conducted by one of our experienced instructors here in Bali, Indonesia.

What is the difference between a diaphragm and piston first stage regulators and what are the positives and negatives of both? How is a BCD built up and what different kinds of BCD are out there. How do you adjust a diving regulator when it is free-flowing etc etc.

The PADI Equipment Specialist Course is not intended to be an extensive equipment repair course. Extensive repair of dive equipment should be done only by a Professional Certified and trained person and is outside the scope of this course. This course can however be the fist step to become a professional in repairing Scuba dive equipment.

You don't have to be a technician to sign up for this specialty course. It contains important information for people who like to built up their dive gear by themselves or for friend. When you want to become a Dive Professional it is advisable to obtain the knowledge touch in this specialty course.

BIDP has it own in-house professional repairer who is specialised to repair and maintain Mares Scuba Equipment.

Course Overview

The PADI Equipment Specialist Course is a non Scuba diving course and no dives will be conducted. This course is designed to be an introduction to make divers familiar with operation and maintenance of Scuba diving equipment. It can be an introduction to new types of equipment on the market and will provide usable suggestions for proper and comfortable equipment configurations

The recommended course text is PADI's Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving which is available as book and multimedia CD-Rom for use on your computer. The static knowledge in book and CD-Rom will be supported by explanation of your instructor here in Bali.

Contained in this course are the following:

  1. Principles, theory and operation of Scuba diving equipment;
  2. Routine, recommended care and procedures of maintenance of the equipment. Storage of Scubadiving gear;
  3. Common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures.
  4. Demonstration of some repair procedures;
  5. Simple suggestions and conciderations for comfortable equipment configuration and an introduction to new equipment and it's pros and cons.

Prerequisites

  • Participating divers needs to be certified as a PADI Scuba Diver, Junior Scuba Diver, Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or comparable certification from another dive training organisation);
  • Have minimum age of 10 years.

  • Recommended duration is 6 hours
